There are several types of notes, but the "Treatment Plan" note type has a few special features.
A treatment plan in a clinical setting is often a "living document," meaning there is only one, and it is updated throughout the entire episode of care for a patient. With our new enhancement to Treatment Plan note types, we attempt to replicate this experience digitally by making it easier for users to find and edit the current version of the note, while maintaining access to historical versions.
Key Changes:
Action Buttons
We've updated and added new buttons on the note to make actions clearer:
Edit for modifications)
Print (for output)
Copy (for duplication)
Deleting a Treatment Plan
You'll also see a "Delete" button in the screenshot above, but you may notice that it is greyed out. That is intentional; Treatment Plans should not be deleted but edited and amended within the note, as clinical best practices suggest.
Treatment Plan Dialog Box
Once you edit a treatment plan, the previous version of it will be stored in the Version History. You can access this by clicking on the note, opening the Treatment Plan dialog Box. There, you'll see each version, along with the date created and the provider that made the update. You can see the contents of each version by clicking on it.
Please note, the option to edit will only apply to the latest/active version of the note.
Option to Expand the Note
Treatment Plans are often very long notes, and we saw the difficulties users had trying to make changes in such a small writing space. Providers are now able to use the "Expand" button to expand the text box of the notes easily. After you are done, the "Close" button will revert your screen.
Save and Sign vs Save
You may notice that, unlike other note types, there is no way to save a draft of a message; you must save and sign the Treatment plan. With the ability to edit, health providers won't have a need for drafts.
That's it for the enhancements to the Treatment Plan note type! For any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at support@neuroflow.com.
