The Patient Suspend/Reactivate feature is a convenient patient management tool that allows Manage users to temporarily pause an individual user's access to NeuroFlow without permanently deleting their data. This feature provides the perfect middle ground between active patient management and permanent deletion, giving you flexibility to manage temporary care interruptions while preserving all historical patient information.
This feature maintains our HIPAA-compliant standards, ensuring all patient data remains secure and protected throughout the suspension and reactivation process.
How does the Patient Suspend/Reactivate Feature work?
There are 3 convenient ways to access this feature: through an individual's profile page, via bulk operations from the patient dashboard, or via an EHR system.
From the Patient Profile Page
- Select the "...Actions" button, and press "Edit."
2. Scroll to the bottom of the side tab and select "Suspend."
3. A memo will pop up to confirm you want to suspend the user.
Bulk Operations from the Patient Dashboard
The Suspend bulk operation is not yet released, but once it is, you will be able to suspend multiple users at once.
- Select the relevant users.
- Near the top-right corner of the dashboard, select "More."
- Select the Suspend option, and confirm you want to suspend the selected patients.
Via an EHR system
Recently, we've made an update that allows providers to suspend and deactivate a patient via their EHR, instead of having to do so directly within the Manage platform. Every EHR is designed uniquely, but you'll find the controls to do this in the same area that you make any other change to a NeuroFlow account.
What happens when you suspend a patient?
When a patient is suspended, several automated actions occur to ensure they're effectively removed from active care:
- The patient account is temporarily deactivated
- All repeating templates and activities are automatically unassigned
- App communications (emails and SMS) are stopped immediately
- Patient data remains preserved but becomes inaccessible through the application
- Patient functions as if they never had an account to begin with
Important limitations:
- Patients with "unregistered" or "pending" status cannot be suspended
- No suspension notification is sent to the patient
- No grace period or advance notice is provided
What happens when you reactivate a patient?
Reactivation can be performed through the same interfaces used for suspension. When a patient is reactivated:
- Account access is immediately restored
- A "Welcome Back" email is automatically sent to the patient
- Templates are NOT automatically reassigned - this must be done manually
FAQ
Do omnichannel assessments stay active? Omnichannel assessments (SMS/email assessments) continue to function even when patients are suspended.
What requires manual work? After reactivation, templates must be manually reassigned to patients - this process is not automated.
Is all patient data preserved? All patient data is maintained throughout the suspension period, ensuring no information is lost during temporary deactivation.
This feature enhances patient management flexibility by providing healthcare providers with better control over their patient roster without the permanence of data deletion.
